Governor Ritter recently signed into law a ban on texting while driving. Employers need to understand potential liability for employees’ use of company-issued cell phones. Employers can be liable for problems or accidents created by an employee’s use of cell phones while driving, if the company provides the phone and/or if the cell phone use is necessary as part of the job. Cell phone usage policies should include: · Banning cell phone use while driving for all employees.· Mandating employee compliance with all applicable state and local laws governing cell phone use;· Requiring employees to use only hands-free devices, provided by the employer, while driving;· Prohibiting the use of texting and emailing while driving;· Providing safety training on cell phone use;· Maintaining written and acknowledged documentation regarding cell phone rules in employee file.

Honnen Equipment has acquired the business of Scott Machinery Co., the John Deere authorized construction equipment dealer in Utah and Idaho. This acquisition expands Honnen Equipment's Rocky Mountain footprint, making it the largest dealer in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Idaho. This ranks Honnen Equipment among the top 10 John Deere dealer groups in North America.
This multi-million dollar deal, which included acquisition, financing and real estate components closed last Friday, May 1st. Minor & Brown PC was the lead advisor for the transaction.
